No expert here but, but the only real difference I can see between auto and marine cranking batteries is the cost. Inflate the price and a picture of a boat to it and you have a marine cranking battery.
Out of convenience I've used the marine version for 15 years in my Westerbeke 33 hp marine diesel.
Just make sure its for cranking only, not to be confused with marine deep cycle batteries-another animal.
