Interesting. Similar to the EMDs which use a gear/exhaust driven turbo. The turbo compressor is gear driven to about 70% power when there is enough heat energy in the exhaust to power the turbine. The gear drive has a over-run clutch so the turbine can spin up to about 70,000rpm. Just like the pto clutches but a little bigger. My question in this is how do they get air flow when the engine is in 'reverse', before the turbo is up to temp and the engine is turning backwards? Lee
