I find what they are telling him very hard to believe. I don't think Kubota would be that stupid. I have a 1977 L245DT and my dealer tells me I can purchase a new engine or get parts for rebuilding. He did try very hard to sell me a new engine instead of parts - he probably makes more profit on the entire engine (they wanted $5,000 for the 3 cylinder engine). Your friend should do some serious research on the subject with other dealers and repair shops as well as check some Kubota websites.
