I guess you are talking about brake linings that you would bolt on that are cracking?If thats what you were saying,you need to get the metal part that you bolt the lining to real clean before you bolt the lining to it(might also check to make sure bolt holes line up real good).I never worked on a Allis Chalmers tractor brakes,but I have replaced brake shoes on old trailers that you could unbolt,or rivet new shoes on.If you are talking about riveting new shoes on,you need one of those machines to rivet them on,then you can set how tight it rivets real easy.Otherwise if you dont have a rivet machine,they may make bolts that are brass that you can bolt the shoes on.They need to be snug,but not so tight they break the lining.Also if I remember right,there is a top and a bottom and a front to those linings,and the bolt holes have to line up real good. Please post back so I know if thats what you were talking about or not.
