The amperage of the battery is the capacity,for example; 90 amp hours. That relates to how long the battery will last over time used. At a load of one amp (small bulb) the theoretical battery life is 90 hours at a specified temperature. The cold cranking amps is related to the internal resistance of the battery at a specified temperature. That means the lower the internal resistace the battery has the more current it can supply at a specified temperature. The design and construction of the battery will determine these ratings.
