I'm assuming you have a concrete pad around the perimeter of the waterer. Try this: remove all ice from around the waterer. Salt the concrete and then place 3/4 inch plywood around the base of the waterer extending out at least 1 1/2 ft. Wrap some plastic around the bottom of the waterer extending up about 1 ft. Or you can use some regular gun grease and grease the bottom half of the waterer to prevent the ice from sticking to the waterer. You should then be able to lift the plywood and the accumulated ice all in one chunk. You might want to use a crow bar for leverage. I've done this with "limited" success on several cow waterers.
