I have a 2000 F250 4 door long bed 2WD, would not trade it for nothing, love it, put about 500# in the bed, keep the fuel tank filled, and it will go where I want to go. If the roads get bad, I don't want to go there. LOL On serious side, check and find out what service history is. There is a recall on the camshaft position sensor, it will, if not already done, needs to be replaced. Find out if the fuel filter housing has been replaced, I was told that was a problem and would leak bad, I had mine replaced it did leak and leak a lot. Other than that it is a great truck, the only thing I did was I put wider tires on it, LT2857R16, with stock tires and a 12,000-14,000# load, it was a little "loose" in the rear, with the wider tires and about 60# of air in the tires, made it a whole lot more stabil. Go for it, you will not regret it.
