This measage is also out of date. The type of injection systems you speak of make sense. I am familiar with Ford tractor engines and some John Deere. These are considered direct injection by the terms of my first post above. The injector pumps sit out side the engine, the lines connect to the injectors. these injectors are opened by the high pressure of the fuel pulse. On these engines the injectors atomise the fuel directly into the combustion chamber.
