Steve: I use hardwood pallets and a pallet jack a lot, however it's mainly for tractor components and mounted implememts. I have pallets for each of about 15 mounted implements. I often use pallets with blocking and tie down straps for splitting tractors. I've moved such things as the entire front from clutch forward on tractors as large as IH 1066. I've moved the entire rear half of an articulated Deere on a pallet, and I've moved standing 20.8x38 tires, rims and wheels on a pallet. Most jacks are good for 6,000#, you can buy heavier but they get expensive. I can see balance may be a major problem trying to move whole tractors. I wouldn't be a bit afraid to try a Cub, 8N, Super A, etc. on a pallet, but if you get them much longer, might be best to use two guys with two jacks.
