Changed so many of those, can't count that high.
Almost everyone we changed leaked from the strap area or under the front shield. Rocks would get wedged in there and start rubbing. Combine that with good old Michigan salt trucks in the winter, and holes magically appear.
On flat beds we left the tank open. Just made sure had good mud flaps on each side to stop the rocks. Looked a little funny having a flap in front of the tank, but seemed to help the life of the tank.
