I was just a kid in junior high, working on a farm in central South Dakota one summer. I was mowing road ditches with a Farmall M. Boss had warned me about not getting too close to the culverts. Wal, that was like telling a kid not to "put beans up his nose." I just knew I could mow around the culverts OK and so I did. All of a suddenly the tractor started to roll over. I had the presence of mind to quickly push in the ignition switch just before I jumped. Tractor rolled over, missed me, incurring a small amount of damage. I was scarred spitless. The boss made me get right on that tractor again the next day and resumed mowing, even though I was reluctant. He didn't scold me but I knew better than to try and outsmart him again. Good lesson for a kid!
