Went out yesterday and cut 2 white pines from the back of our property that we bought in 2004. I tell the kids these are the PRICIEST trees around (LOL Hope to use the property for more than that someday. )They're far from the perfect Christmas tree shape, but once the decorations are on, I'm sure they'll look pretty good.
We wanted to downsize to just 1 this year but youngest daughter (who does all the decorating) insisted on one in the foyer, too. Next year, she'll be in college, so only 1 tree will be sacrificed. Years ago, used to do what others mentioned. All the brothers/sisters would get their kids and we'd make a day of it at a cut-your-own farm, then end up at our house for pizzas afterward. Lots of memories, but time marches on, families go their own ways. Can't imagine ever getting an artificial tree. Next phase, I'd like to get a smaller tree off of the property and put it in a pot for the holidays, then transplant it back in the spring.
