I think everything has been covered already. If you are looking to upgrade you have already noticed the short comings of the 8n, geared too high, no live PTO, no live hydraulics, no power steering.
Something newer with more gears and live power would probably be a lot more enjoyable to operate. I would shy away from Turf tires. I spent some time on a Kubota this summer with R4 turf tires, they don't leave a mark on the lawn but I needed the 4 wheel drive to pull anything. Probably wouldn't plow too well. A Ford 2000 or 3000 would solve those problems listed above, but it woudn't be a new tractor if that is what you are looking for.
