There was some "discussion" a few days ago on Deere forum (11/18/07) in regard to a Deere tech manual for sale on Ebay. SM-2045 - covers fuel injection systems for early Deeres up the late 70s. For some reason, the person is advertising it as a 4020 tractor book - which it is not.
I made the point that - I often see such books on Ebay that sell for more then you can buy them new for - at many places. And, I got some disagreement. P. Browing stated that Ebay is a "buyer's market" right now. Seems to me - it is still, often a buyer's "rip-off market."
Well today - that "priceless rare book" is up to $108 plus shipping with a few days to go - Ebay item # 150184530407
Same book is for sale, right now - for $33 at DeerelyDeparted. Also, Deere Company still sells it. I also see it for sale, right now, at two used book stores - one for $40 and another for $50.
This is what I was talking about. People see things on Ebay, and buy without doing any research - and this drives the prices up (on Ebay, anyway).
Hey, I don't care if someone likes throwing money away. It does cause inflated prices though - and I put this out there in case there is some poor sucker that does not realize such books are available elsewhere.

After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
