Hold your hand over the throat of the carburetor to see if you have good suction on your hand. If that is good I would remove No1 sparkplug and bring that piston to TDC on the compression stroke. Hold you thumb over the plug hole and have someone to hand crank until you feel compression, then drop a large handle screwdriver on top of the piston and watch the screwdriver slowly rise until it stops.
