Here in North Florida, hay went through the roof last year. This year, everybody is in the hay business with new JD cab tractors and shiny new balers. I expect when the market changes, as it undoubtedly will, there will be a lot of folks getting tractors and equip repoe'd. That's why my newest piece of hay equip is 25 years old with tractors older than that. They are paid off and maintained well. I guess if money were no object I'd buy some new stuff (I do get occasionally tired of fixing things when I really need them). Although, I've really enjoyed rehabbing the stuff I got. I'd probably by more land. At 10-15k per acre, I've got to compete with the "northerners" who are tired of South Florida and want to bring that lifestyle here.
