15 years afo, my dad heard some shots well after dark, sounded like outside his front door. He and mom jumped into their truck and went down the road. parked on dads property, he found a car full of drunk teen agers, (under18yrs old) he pulls up to the car with headlights on,, one of the little punks had a 22 rifle with a laser pointer tapred tothe end pf the barrel, and a flashlight taped to it too. he got out of the car, with that gun was gonna shoot my dad!!!

Meanwhile, I walked down where they were, nobody knew I was there,, but I was very close by,,, when he got out of his back set of his car with the gun, dad jumped out and started running towards them, well the kid being so drunk, he fell over, or tripped.

lets just say,he was forced to be disarmed.

Now here is the interesting part,,,

called the sherriff,,, told em we got a car load of drunk kids with guns got caught, and we had em at bay,, come and get em.

You know what they said? write down the plate number of the car and we will send a car down in the morning to take your statement. til then, let em go.

Severley upset, we called the town police, and he was there ASAP,,, with about 5 other officers, arrested them and hauled their butts to jail. for the night.

Parents bailed them out,, they hassled us by driving by the farm, yelling all sorts of threats to our family, etc etc,,,

wasnt two weeks later, they caught the same kids robbing a house, stealing hunting rifles etc etc.. Some other thefts had happened in the area too, but the prints ran, matched up to a crime scene, and they all went up the creek. for about 15 years!

Somtimes, you get lucky, and not get shot while defending your land. so, use your best judegement before going off and being captain hero and handle something by yourself,,,, you have no idea who you are walking up on, or what they are doing,

Deer cant dial 911 on a cell phone after the fact, now can they?? be careful, and use your heads. JMHO. ChadS

Today's Featured Article - Choosin, Mounting and Using a Bush Hog Type Mower - by Francis Robinson. Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
