Lets looks at some hard facts.5 years ago it cost 700.00 for fuel oil last year 1800.00.RE tax under 1000.00 now 1861.00.Mail book business that made about 2000.00 per year gone.Took my SS at 62 because my shop work was falling off fast.Sharpening tools used to bring in a grand a year now only do a few planer blades.Used to build and sell 40 picnic tables in summer,sold 8 this year.My price went from 80.00 to 115.00 over 10 years.Just followed material prices as they went up.Country store thats been open for 150 plus years closed last month.Two nearby towns lost their store 2 years ago,never reopened.If fuel goes to 3.00 I need 100 gals a month After oil,phone and electric is paid I ll have 50.00 left for the month.Farm and truck ins will eat the 50.00.My wife is still working as a secretary, without her income the farm would have be sold.Ive lived here for 42 years worked for myself most of those years.Never had a mortgage always paid as we went along .I dont use credit cards.I see people buying groceries with credit cards here.The whole thing is going the drain.I cut 6 cord of wood every year but at seventy I wonder how long I can continue .I worked at various town jobs over the years,Constable,dog catcher,building inspector.The pay was bare bones.I always had money to give the church even though I dont attend.Thats all gone.Small auto garages are getting 0ver 50.00 per hour and padding the bill to boot.The greed I see is unbeleivable.
