It is my opinion that the oil heaters just cannot
make enough heat to have much affect on the block
and head of an engine. The block heaters that can
be installed in the cooling system (preferably the
block)will do the best job.
The place I used to work had timers on the post
for every truck that was parked outside, the timer
was set to operate for at least 4 hours in 0 deg temps. In extreme cold the oil heater could be
used also.
These days if it gets to O deg. you'll find me in
the house making sure the furnace stays warm.;-)
