I think of wheatland or standard axles being the simpler kind that is attached to the tractor in the center and the whole unit turns. Wide front ends generally mean the axle remains straight out from the body and the front wheels turn like in a car. Regular tractors are row crop with the front wheel(s) right under the front of the body close together so both go down the same row. Like the Farmall Regular.
