I'm trying to install a Hamstar 45040 DRL module on my 2002 Tacoma to meet Canadian import requirements. The installation makes sense except that the green wire is supposed to "wrap around a spark plug wire" to gain power by impedence to signal the relay that the truck is running.
An alternative is to hook the wire to the oil pressure sender, but I'd need to be an asbestos octopus with a GPS to find that baby. (The wire's a yellow-green, according to the 2003 wiring manual.)
I've never seen an ignition coil mounted on top of a spark plug before. Of the four wires that run into it, is there one I can safely use to harvest a bit of impedence?
Alternatives?
Thanks,
