Magnetos will get dirty and rusty after awhile and need to be taken apart and cleaned from stem to stern. Especially the coils metal pieces have to be cleaned real good so that they make good contact when reassembled. Also it might need to be re-magnetized this take a special piece of equipment and will have to go to a shop that has it. I would start with just a good cleaning and setting the points and see what happens before sending it in.
