I pay for almost everything with a credit card. I ALWAYS pay the balance off each month. I earn points and get things at CABELA's for free. If you are on a tight budget, pay for everything with cash. It gives you a better sense of how much you are spending. I have ALWAYS paid an amount that would be equal to 2X the amount of the principal plus the interest each month. By doing this a 30 yr loan will be paid off in about 15yrs. Fixed rated will be higher at the start but it will not blow up on you. You will always know where it is and it will always be affordable.
