Don Been a few years since i had mine apart but if i recall after you remove a flat snap ring you pound part of it back in and then remove a round snap ring from the inside. But im a little vague on this so i hope somebody else jumps in here. If i am right and if my memory serves me correct you shouldn't have to pound to hard to push the coller into the cylinder after the snap ring has been removed. Your new seal kit should also have some instruction's.
