If you purchase a universal fit pitman, you should assemble the sickle end first, attach to the sickle, adjust the "register" (sickle sections are centered in the guards at the extreme end of outward travel), rotate the pitman drive to the extreme outward travel position, and then mark where to drill the drive end holes. This proceedure will assure that the sickle will give you a full cut(centered in guards at both the in and out travel limits). Take your time and the result will be worth your efforts.
