I build a few shade shelters for my animals.. It's easy to drop in 4 landscape timbers into the ground 2.5' and then box out a top on them using 4 8' 2x4, and then add a runner down the middle.. IE 5 2x4 and 4 posts to make an 8x8 shelter.. plus 4 sheets of 5V tin.
For yuors.. I'd make it more like 8x16 or 8x20. So.. just get 6 10' 2x4 or 3-16' for the long span, plus the 8' sides, and the timbers for the legs with a set on each end and in the middle.
