My corn silage yielded about 15 tons/acre - two thirds of normal. Planted 1st week of June, got lucky with a few showers right after layby nitrogen in mid-July , little after that. Had to chop it 3 weeks or so early before it died from drought and heat. Very little grain in it, I doubt if it would have made 10-15 bu/acre. First cut hay ,early May, made about two thirds of usual . None to cut since. Everyone here looking for hay, much of what was made in the spring has already been fed. There was rain yesterday from Humberto, over 4 inches - more than fell on my corn crop since it was planted.
