Just picked up a B F Avery model 'A' and I have a few questions that you might be able to help me with: 1. Where is the serial number located? I have an engine ID from the right side of the block on a tin plate. Rick from Michigan said that his tractor serial number is stamped on the frame near the rear of the tractor but I can't find anything. Any other place to look? Also, any other info on serial number sequences etc.? 2. The front end of the cranking pin that sticks out of the grille is broken off. If it were there and working (and I had a crank which I do not), what procedure is used to engage the crank with the crank pulley? I am assuming this cranking pin is not spinning when the tractor is running. 3. Only one plug wire was on this thing and that one went from the #3 plug (from the front of the engine) to the top left mag socket (about the 10 o'clock position). Is this one at least right? What is the firing order? Does the firing order on the mag rotate clockwise (viewing from the rear of the tractor)? 4. Does anyone know the address (or web site or email # of the 'Avery Club' which is somewhere in the states I believe. 5. Does anyone know availability of any manuals (shop, parts, operators, etc.) for this tractor. 6. Mine has the original BF Avery decals on both sides of the hood. It also has a stencilled MM BF AVERY in white above the Avery decal on the right side, and a MM of the same type at the front of the hood. Would this be one of the early models after Minneapolis Moline took over the tractor line? Hope somebody can help with some of these questions. Thanks.
