I have a 96 Dodge Dakota with a 3.9L v-6 5 speed. When I'm accelerating through third gear, ON OCCASION the truck will act like someone flipped on the "more power" switch at around 2500 rpm. Even if I keep the throttle at the same position, as the RPM's wind up it will suddenly get a big boost of power. There's no EGR on this truck and I've replaced both O2 sensors and the cat. Most of the time, this engine is a real dog, but some days it goes like heck which perplexes me a lot. I would say it does the more power thing most often when I'm leaving the driveway when the engine is warm. Has anyone seen this before?
