I went to a thing last year on this and the site is all out of whack on what it is. 1. you only tag those animals that are removed from the farm at that time. Every state is setting up there own system but most are going with the electronic tag that will be placed in the ear either by you are buy a state official or buy the auction yard. As far as I know its only on cattle right now to stem the tide of mad cow disease. It just goes to show you can't believe everything that you read on the Web.
