7.2 volts is regarded as the top limit on modern day set-ups (ie 14.4V on a 12 volt system - 15V would be too high and would indicate a fault situation where excessive electrolyte would be lost due to electrolysis and the battery would likely be regularly at an elevated temperature, both of which is/are not good for battery life). Modern batteries are not so forgiving as earlier technology and a sealed-for-life or gel-electrolyte batteries will not tolerate over-charging.
