Darn right it hurts. Many years ago my dad was climbing up to top of earcorn crib through a chute made for that purpose. He finished checking corn up in roof and was about to climb back down when he noticed wasps flying around top of chute. turns out there were 2 huge nests right above chute opening. He had disturbed them on his way up. That was the only way back down so he waited till they calmed down on there nest and quietly crawled back into chute only inches from them. Sure enough when he was in the chute unable to swing arms to defend himself they attact him. By time he got back down he was stung 7 times in neck and arms. As he was walking across yard to get weed sprayer and gasoline to go back and kill them nests he collapsed. Mother saw him lying in yard and called ambulance. Turns out he was allergick to wasp stings and never new it. Hauled him to hospital, throat swelled up and he was sufficating doctor said he won"t make it. Called Priest, gave him last rites, had family come to hospital to be with him when he died. We were there about 20 minutes when he started to come back. 6 hours later the doc sent him home with some shot kit he was supposed to take if he ever got stung again. Never needed to take the shot as from then on when he saw a wasp nest he would have one of us kids come over and spray it.He always had a dozen cans of Raid wasp and hornet killer scattered all over the farm and yes that stuff really works.

Today's Featured Article - The Nuts and Bolts of Fasteners - Part 2 - by Curtis Von Fange. In our previous article we discussed capscrews, bolts, and nuts along with their relative hardness and thread sizes. In this segment we will finish up on our fasteners and then work with ways to keep them from loosening up in the field. Capscrews, bolts and nuts are not the only means of holding two parts together. When dealing with thinner metals like sheet tin, a long bolt and ... [Read Article]
