It all boils down to the serial number. 146607 and above is a WD45. Serial number is STAMPED on the left vertical face on the rear of the differential. Starts with WD. Late WD, 1952, had a curved shifter. Early 53 WD, mag was replaced with a distributor. WD45 came out in 53. WD45 engine has solid right side, no bolt-on plate. Longer crank throw, higher governed speed, thus more hp. Standard size rear wheels were wider on the WD45.
