bilding up the back side with matte or fiberglass cloth is the way to go. if you have a lot of air gaps under the tub and it lacks support. set the tub in mortar. outline the base of the tub with pencil on the floor so you know about where it sits. your may have a flange on the bottom that sits on the floor. mark that too. measure floor height to bottom of tub. when you are ready to set the tub, mix a stiff batch of mortar mix, mak 4-5 rows of mortar aout 6 inches apart the lenght of the tub itself, peak the rows so it kinda looks like a pyramid. when the tub is set on the mortar, it will compress down when you level it. then let the mortar set. it gives a sturdy base for the tub to set on.
