First thing to do is open the fuel cap and see if you have vacuum in the tank. If so get a new cap or drill a small hole in it to allow air in. Second is to check for voltage at the lift pump which is under your feet inside the frame rail... where the fuel filter on a similar gas model would be. It opperates as such, key to on and it primes the injection pump (IP) then goes off until there is oil pressure. Mine seems to go off as soon as the glow light goes out. Once there is oil pressure it runs constantly until there is no more. Even after key is turned to off it should run for a second or two until the oil pressure sensor reads zero. I think you have a common problem and either a relay, fuse, or bad oil pressure sending unit. I suggest registering at gm-diesel.com, it is free and very helpful!
