Like was said, you need horsepower. More gears also helps. If you're talking about the cab over single axle Macks, they are Renaults and put out around 210 or 215 HP. How many gears does the tranny have? I used to have a Hino and pulled my Cat with it. It was slow but on flat roads could get up to highway speed after a while. If I encountered a hill, sometimes I had to downshift into 2nd gear. I only had 6 gears and 165 HP but could still move the Cat without having to hire someone. I was happy. I could have used a lot more power and gears but my truck got about 16 MPG if all I was pulling was my bobcat on a smaller trailer. If I had to move the Cat all the time I would have got a bigger truck. It all depends on how much you use the truck to haul big loads. Dave
