OldMax I disagree with you on that. I pull a 16' car hauler all the time with just a bumper hitch and have never had a problem. Have not once had to tighten the bolts on the bumper or anything. I will agree that some of the older trucks did have a problem with the bumpers coming loose. I have not on my 99 F150. Safety wise I believe my bumper is just as stout as a reciever hitch.
