Alright, all this knowledge out here and I need some of it. I�m going to build a drag to level out some small fields. The previous owners had Lama�s and they dug beds all over the fields from 4� � 6� across and from 1'to 2� deep; I need to fill them in. I�m in central Oregon and the soil is a sandy loam with LOTS of rocks. I�m working the ground with a 5� Rotatiller and want to pull a 6� wide drag to help smooth out the fields.
I�m planning on building it out of lumber. 40 years ago, Dad had a drag he pulled behind a disc to level out our philbert orchard; it worked good but I�m not sure if it would level very well. It�s design was, 6) 4�x10� planks overlapping each other like a staircase, this left the ground very smooth but we did not have any rocks and the soil was a loam type.
