Not too long ago somebody was asking about a Joy Rider seat. I came across 2 old Farm Journals the other day from 1953 and 54. There is an ad in one for that seat. It says that they were manufactured by Fleischer-Schmid Corp of Columbus Nebraska. Those magazines are fascinating reading. There are ads for Massey Harris 44 Special,Allis Chalmers CA,Ford NAA,Cockshutt,Ferguson 30,IH Super C with fast hitch, ads for every kind of car and truck you can imagine. A lot of things in the background of pictures and ads sure take you back. I can't get over how that magazine has changed though. About half of it was for the farm wife. Articles, advice columns, ads for furniture and appliances, food products, clothes, shoes, hair curling kits, medicines, you name it.The new FJs are just so sterile and to be honest, usually over my head.
