Oil turns black due to carbon right? Carbon in the oil is what causes wear to the engine parts, not supplying a sufficient and smooth enough film to seperate the moving parts. If you have a good enough filtration system, you can warrant extending the oil change.
My point is that the little no count filters don't sufficiently filter the oil and you are back to square one. Even if their oil will last 50,000 miles, it's a mute point if the oil is dirty and not filtered clean. Run the oil that is like liquid sand paper.
