Averys and Generals

I'm about to take possession of an early 40's Avery model 'A' which I've never seen but since it has been given to me I can't pass up a bargain. My question relates to whether: 1. The BF Avery company made Averys and also the Generals (which came from Cletrac)?
2. Did Cletrac make the Generals and also the Averys? In other words, just who made what? Also: 3. Were the two tractors (whoever made them) identical? I've got two different reference books here that contradict each other. If they are in fact the same, do you think it would be sinful if I turned the Avery into a General by giving it a yellow paint job with General decals? The reason for this is that I'm tired of red paint after having a few Masseys and a Cockshutt. Anybody help?
