I hope that the vent was the problem. next you might want to check the bearing itself. If it's worn, It will take out a seal. also, if there is excessive end play. Is the seal is fully seated in it's boss. Abraisive in the lube? and my favorite, a loose nut behind the WHEEL! How did the seal, that you removed, look? was it shreadded? worn? oblong?...sl
