gotta brag a little...

We started baling our 2nd crop last weekend. Only 1 load because haybine blew a hyd. line and I didn't have enough time to cut more for it to dry out by the weekend. Good thing too because we did get some rain that post-poned it a little. Some got chopped and fed right outta the forage wagon to the girls because we're out of corn silage. I fixed the haybine and cut more hay mon-tues-wed in the morning/early afternoon before I had to go to work. Some fields were beautiful. I mean absolutely gorgeous. Some of the second crop was a good 2' tall- don't think I've ever seen it like that. Some was even taller than the 1st crop, which was pretty fair for the most part. We got it al off right now except 1 last field, expect to get about 1 1/2-2 loads off it. Between that one and another, we only got 3 loads of 1st crop off it, and last year was 2 loads of 2nd from the same 2 fields. We baled the 1st small corner tonight yet, and it gave us a full load. Just as much as the 1st crop, if not a little more. We've got 4 loads of our hay sitting and 1 load we bought sitting to be unloaded tomorrow, but my dad and brother may get a jump on it and finish the last hay tomorrow while I'm gone to church with the fiancé. Then we'll have all 6 of our wagons full plus a kicker to throw off. Not a bad day at all!!! Overall I figure we should be able to hit over 1000 bales yet with our 2nd crop. i think we got a total of 1500 bales of 1st crop, and we even had one more small 2-3 acre field of grass that's now plowed under and planted in corn. I'll try to get some pictures tomorrow, but we may be a little too busy to take any.
