If you look at the front part of the shutdown solonoid, there is a knob. if you turn it to the oposite extreme, that will put the pump on "manual". You will be able to run the engine if it is a solonoid problem. you wil not be able to shut it down unless you can kill it, or turn the knob back.
Shutdown solonoid problems weren"t all that common on the 30 truck fleet I worked on, but they did happen ocasionally.
