Most of the hay people around here place an add in the local weekly paper prices range from $105 per ton to almost $200 Hay is not in any short supply around here but the quality isn't as good as it was last year do to rain slowing the haying season so what we got was not prime hay like we usually get. People with cows will buy anything with a string or wire around it if the price is good an horse people this year are looking at the lower quality just because of the higher prices. We lost the seed on most of ours because we had to wait for the rain to stop. some of the hay in the lower areas where its wetter was pretty good but the hill tops were pretty much a washout. One neighbor is selling 1300 lb round bales for $150 top grade horse hay and lesser quality stuff for $100. I see one guy is asking $7 a bale in the field don't what its like though but this late in the season it can't be to good. I think its going to be a good season for those of us who have hay and a bad season for the rest. Walt
