Hi;
In the arable areas where most of the grain is grown they use big square bales for straw because they are easier and more convenient to ship on trucks to the grass & livestock areas.
Round bales are mainly used for forage and on smaller mixed farms for forage & straw.
Some people have modified their (small square bale) flat 8 handlers, or bought heavy duty handlers to fit their loaders to move the big square bales.
