We have one of these assemblies on our 46 Farmall M. They are neat old original equipment if you have both ends and can make them work. The other guys are right. If the practicality factor over rides nostalgia, you might sell the antique and buy a more modern system.

In fact I have been fighting ours this morning trying to disc a bunch of tumble weeds. Ours worked okay until we upgraded the old 3-400 pound Liftall to a "new" 800 pounder from a Super M. Now it wants to pop apart every time I raise or lower the disc. I just drove her in to try some .032 safety wire to hold it together. Touched up the hook engagements with a file too.
Anyway, for a diagram and IPB go to the Case site, look under Farmall- M Tractor- 276 Hydraulic System, Breakaway coupling. https://webparts.pvassociates.net/cnh/
The assembly is set up for standard 1/2 inch hose ftgs.
As fun as it is to use original equipment, if the safety wire doesn't work, we'll be upgrading to Pioneer fittings in the future.
Good luck, Don

All of my part books date back to 1964 and New Holland have changed some part numbers. They usually put the old Ford part number on the package. I was suppressed when I looked up the part number of the auxiliary drive shaft because for some reason the part number went through a radical change and it lost its "Basic Part Number". Ford part numbers follow the following rules. Most part numbers are in three parts. The middle part is called the ... [Read Article]
