Are you good friends with the local shop owner? You got one hell of a deal there.
I'm fairly certain it would cost close to that just for the rod around here if I bought it from the steel supplier myself. Most smaller cylinders run in the 150-200 range for repairs with some machining.
Agree that the big shops are not always best though. I deal mostly with smaller shops mainlysince they don't mind doing small jobs. The big shops are geared to working for the power corp and other big customers.... where money and common sense are no object. They don't want to see our small jobs.... Rod
