: : My 8N refuses to start.Good spark verified and carburator cleaned. I am now looking for a detailed shop manual for this device. The I&T manual I have is pretty skimpy. Appreciate any suggestions.

: Is the spring still on the trap door on the choke
: butterfly. When this little spring breaks it does
: not allow the choke to fully operate. Just a thought.

As I remember there is a spring on the choke plate but none on the throttle plate. Correct me if I'm wrong. The problem seems to center around no or little fuel to the cylinders. I have disassembled and cleaned the carburetor. All jets appear to be open but during cranking of the engine and choking, only the plug in cylinder No. 4 is moist. The rest appear to be
dry. The spark is good and timing appears to be TDC. Compression runs 40-50 psi. I don't know what is specified. Compression ratio is 6 or 6.5 to 1. Thanks for the thought.---Bill
