Hydraulic fluid JD300

Hi Guys
Just purchased a 1969 JD300 tractor and finishing mower for grass cutting.The tractor does not have a loader or backhoe on it.I want to change the transmission oil which JD recomends the 303 hydraulic fluid but I have a 16 gallon drum of new Dexron 3 trans. fluid sitting in my garage. Will the dexron be ok or should I forget it and purchase the JD oil?
